1. „halten“ normally means „to hold“, but it can also mean „to think of“ in some expressions like „Was halten Sie davon?“ (What do you think about that?) oder „Ich halte nichts davon“ (I don't think much of it).

2. „Es fällt mir schwer“ is another German expression, meaning „it's difficult for me“. Similarly, you could say „Es fällt ihm schwer“ - „it's difficult for him“.
