Der Relativsatz / relative sentence

We use the relative sentence to avoid the repetition of a subject in the nominative, accusative, dative or genitive case.
The relative pronoun replaces only the noun.
In the relative sentence (der Relativsatz) the verb must be place at the end.

The nominative / der Nominativ:

There are two ways to write a relative sentence (der Relativsatz), because the repetition is in the nominative.

Relative pronouns in the nominative case / Relativpronomen im Nominatv

Feminin
Neutral
Plural
 der
 die
das
 die

Beispiel / Examples:

Maskulin:

Der Mann kauft ein Auto. Der Mann ist mein Bruder.
As it is clear, the repetion is (der Mann) and both sentences are in the nominative case. In this case we have two ways to write a relative sentence.
First way: we begin with the first sentence as the main sentence (der Hauptsatz) and the second one as a subordonate sentence (der Nebensatz).
so that will be as follows:
Der Mann, der mein Bruder ist, kauft ein Auto.
Second way: We begin with the second sentence.
Der Mann, der mein Bruder ist, kauft ein Auto.
Please notice that:
1- If we remove the subordonate sentence (der Nebensatz), the sentence with which we began our relative sentence will be as it is in the first place.
2- The second comma separates two conjugated verbs: the first verb of the (Nebensatz) and the second one of the (Hauptsatz).

Feminin:

Die Frau kocht in der Küche. Die Frau ist meine Mutter.
1- Die Frau, die meine Mutter ist, kocht in der Küche.
2- Die Frau, die in der Küche kocht, ist meine Mutter.

Neutral:

Das Kind zeichnet ein schönes Bild. Es ist sehr begabt.
It can be that the repetition isn't the exact same word like here in the second sentence: it is a personal pronoun; so if we begin with the second sentence as a (Hauptsatz), we have to replace it with the original noun which is: DAS KIND as we show it in number 2:
1- Das Kind, das sehr begabt ist, zeichnet ein schönes Bild.
2- Das Kind, das ein schönes Bild zeichnet, ist sehr begabt.

Plural:

Die Arbeiter haben viel Geld verdient. Die Arbeiter sind glücklich.
1- Die Arbeiter, die glücklich sind, haben viel Geld verdient.
2- Die Arbeiter, die viel Geld verdient haben, sind glücklich.
